My Journey

From formulating chemicals
to deploying AI agents

I spent the first decade of my career in the cutting edge chemicals industry — from helping launch the world's brightest LED light bulb to building components that went into the mobile revolution. In 2016, I realized AI was the future and made the pivot to consulting, data science, and eventually Solutions Engineering leadership.

Today, I lead enterprise Solutions Engineering teams at AI/ML SaaS companies — building the function, the process, and the people from scratch. I believe the rarest skill in technical GTM is connecting platform capability to business outcome with enough clarity to close. That's what I do.

Outside of work, I'm driven by the same instinct: if I haven't done it, I want to learn it. I speak five languages, have traveled to over 30 countries, and have lived and worked in Taiwan and Japan. Every year I pick up something new — a sport, a language, a skill — because I believe life is richer when you chase experiences over objects.

My Identity
Builder
Teams, processes, frameworks — if it doesn't exist yet, I'll build it from scratch.
Tinkerer
I write Python scripts to track my own life and build side projects out of curiosity. I don't outsource learning.
Closer
I obsess over deal clarity and path to close. Technical wins don't count until the contract is signed.
Dad
New to the role. Already the hardest and best thing I've built.

The Person Behind the Resume

2026
Soundburst icon
Soundburst
macOS · Swift
A menu bar app that monitors your mic volume in real time — a glanceable green / orange / red icon keeps your voice comfortable on back-to-back calls. No recording, no data leaves the device.
Goal · Approach · Outcome
Goal Avoid voice strain on long calls with zero friction — a passive, glanceable signal in the menu bar.
Approach SwiftUI + AppDelegate menu-bar-only app. AVAudioEngine measures mic RMS in real time; momentum + peak hysteresis prevents the icon flickering during brief pauses.
Outcome Lightweight macOS utility living entirely in the menu bar. Privacy-first — no recording, no data sent anywhere.

BMW dashboard preview
My BMW HUD
Tableau · Data Analysis
10 years of every expense tracked on my '07 328i — from loan payments to random gaskets — visualized into a Tableau dashboard that hit the r/dataisbeautiful front page.
Goal · Approach · Outcome
BMW Cost of Ownership Dashboard
Goal Surface the true total cost of owning a German car — not just the sticker price, but every dollar spent across a decade.
Approach Manual collection of every receipt from 2010–2020, categorized across loan, repair, maintenance, insurance, tickets, and registration. Built in Tableau with time-series and Pareto views.
Outcome Total cost of ownership was nearly 2× the purchase price — $65K spent on a $21K car. Post went viral on r/dataisbeautiful and r/personalfinance.

The Whisky Exchange
TWE Whisky Pricing
Python · NLP · scikit-learn · BeautifulSoup
What actually drives the price of a single malt? Scraped 1,500+ whiskies from The Whisky Exchange (with their permission) and built ML models to find out.
Goal · Approach · Outcome
Goal Understand what drives premium whisky pricing — age, distillery, flavour profile, or something else entirely.
Approach Scraped the full TWE catalog with BeautifulSoup, applied NLP to tasting notes and descriptions, ran deductive imputation on missing data, then trained logistic regression and Random Forest classifiers.
Outcome 0.7 accuracy predicting price tiers. Age, vintage, flavour descriptors, distillery, and country of origin all play measurable roles. General Assembly Data Science capstone.

Lifelong Learner
For over a decade, I've made a habit of picking up 2–3 new skills every year — from learning to swim at 29 after nearly drowning as a kid, to going from 125 to 180 lbs through strength training, to picking up golf and the craft of parenting in 2025. Reinvention isn't a reset; it's a rhythm.
